Date Nights That Make the Most of New York in Spring

Date Nights That Make the Most of New York in Spring

We are so over winter and ready to shed some layers in what’s sure to be a glorious NYC springtime (it always is, eventually!). After months of date nights huddling inside, it’s always exciting to really go out and be reminded of all the city has to offer. We asked our friends at Eventbrite to provide some date ideas that veer away from the drinks + dinner formula and are sprinkled with the essence of New York in spring. They came back with this list of inspiring ideas and unique events. Now you just have to get a sitter (we got you) and go.

Friday March 30

Laugh Out Loud at Better Than Your Bed: A Friday Night Variety Show
Three female comedians from Upright Citizens Brigade, Off Top, and Refinery29 come together with some of their friends to make you laugh through comedy, music, and original characters. It’s a big promise they’re making with that title, but we think they’ll deliver.

Saturday/Sunday afternoons, March 31  May 20

See More than the Cyclone on the Coney Island History Project Walking Tour
Take a walking tour of the amusement district, “past, present, and future.” Led by experts, some of whom have more than 100 years of family history in the neighborhood. It’s a unique opportunity to learn more about the iconic park, and what is being done to preserve it!

Saturday March 31

Get Spooked by the Ghosts of Greenwich Village
Haunted City Ghost Tours has eyes on a side of Greenwich Village you’ve never seen. Visit a Prohibition era speakeasy, see the brownstone where Edgar Allan Poe wrote two of his tales, and make a stop where Aaron Burr, our country’s third VP, still takes his meals (ooooh!).

Tuesday April 3

Put Your Pinkies Up at Macy’s Flower Show: Lunch Tea Time Seminar with Modern Terrarium Bar
Grab your girlfriends for a moms’ day out and head to Macy’s for tea, treats, and a tutorial on making your own terrarium. The theme of this year’s flower show: fairyland!

Saturday April 7

Get Your Hippie on the Historic Greenwich Village Tour: Beats, Bohemians, and Icons of the ‘60s
This tour highlights what Greenwich Village used to be: a hangout for artists, writers, and performers. You’ll see the places some of the world’s most famous influencers, like Bob Dylan, called home, and learn how the Village became what it is today.

Sunday April 8

Drink up at The Bloody Mary Festival
Have you been on the search for the best Bloody Mary in the city? Check out this event where they’re all available in one place for you. There will be food too, so we think you can totally justify this as “brunch.”

Thursday April 12

Sip and Make Soap at Evening Cocktail & Craft: Soap and Suds
Take a visit to Queens Botanical Garden to learn about the botanical soapmaking process, enjoy drinks from local breweries, and leave with your very own herbal bar of glycerin soap. Sometimes random is fun, right?!

Sunday April 15

Mix and Grind at a Sausage Making Class
Just in time for summer grilling season, the Meat Hook is offering instruction on how to make your own sausage. Plus, Three Brewing is providing the drinks.

Saturday May 12

Feast and Fiesta at the New York Taco Takeover
Enjoy a taco or four in-between shots of tequila, perfecting your hula hooping skills, and releasing your stress on an unsuspecting piñata. Organizers promise attendees will “feast, drink, and fiesta.” Sounds to us like the ideal event!

Saturday May 19 & Sunday May 20

Give It Up for Greens at the Vegetarian Food Festival
Feel good about this weekend-long event featuring chef demonstrations, talks with doctors, and plenty of healthy activities, all 100% plant-based.

Eventbrite has tons more fun spring date ideas to check out in the city. Make some plans, we’ll watch the kids. Hello Sitter, hello peace of mind.
